Operated by the GVB there are 15 different tram lines, and four metro lines. Three free pedestrian ferries from Central Station, across the IJ, to Amsterdam-Noord.
The GVB day or multiple day ticket provides you with unlimited GVB travel throughout Amsterdam. 24 hour and 48 hour tickets can be purchased from the conductor inside all trams.
For longer duration tickets visit the GVB Tickets & Info offices outside Centraal Station.
Amsterdam is known internationally as a hub for bicycle culture. It also happens to be the best way to experience the city.
Most main streets have bike paths and there is bike parking everywhere. Be brave and follow the rules not the locals.
Taxis within the city centre are plentiful, reasonably priced and offer quick journey times. As in any big city, be sure to always check the meter when you start your trip.
